Predictions, not observations

Tide predictions are astronomical. Real water levels depart from them because of barometric pressure, wind, storm surge and river discharge — routinely by 0.1–0.3 m, and by a metre or more in a storm.

Find My Tide is not suitable for navigation.

Do not use it to plan safe passage, clearance or anchorage. Use official tide tables and charts from your national hydrographic office.

United States

Tidal harmonic constants and station data are published by NOAA's Center for Operational Oceanographic Products and Services (CO-OPS) and are in the public domain. Predictions shown here are computed by this app from those constants, and are not NOAA's own published predictions.

Privacy

No accounts. Your location never leaves your device: it is used on the phone to sort the station list by distance and to centre the map. The only coordinates our server ever sees are the published coordinates of the station you are looking at, sent to fetch the weather there.

There is no sign-up, no profile, no advertising identifier and no crash-reporting or attribution service. Location permission is optional: decline it and you can still search for a station by name or drop a pin on the map.

Find My Tide uses PostHog to keep an anonymous, aggregate record of how the product is used. The website collects anonymous page views — no cookies, no identifier that outlives your visit. The app sends one anonymous, randomly generated install ID, plus which screen you're viewing — and, on a station's detail screen, that station's published ID and name, so we can see which stations are actually used. None of it is linked to your identity, none of it is a device identifier like an advertising ID, and none of it is shared for advertising. Both also send your approximate country and device type. There is still no advertising, no data broker, and no account.

Your unit preference, colour scheme override and whether location has been asked for are saved on the device so the app opens the way you left it. Deleting the app removes them. If you write to support, we keep the message and your address only as long as it takes to answer you.
