Tides in your AI assistant

Find My Tide runs a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so an AI assistant can look up tides at any of the 4,580 stations on this site and answer in its own words: “When is low tide at Point Reyes on Saturday morning?” It gives the same predictions as this site and the apps.

Add it in one click

Claude opens its connector settings with everything filled in: choose No sign-in if it asks, then Add. Once added, it works in Claude on the web, the desktop app and your phone. Cursor and VS Code open straight into the app, if it is installed.

What it can answer

• search_stations — Finds stations by place name, by position, or both — “Tofino”, “Bay of Fundy”, or the nearest to a latitude and longitude.
• get_tides — High and low tide times and heights for one station, for up to seven days, in the station’s local time — plus the current height and whether the tide is rising or falling.
• get_conditions — Current wind, sea temperature and sky at a station.

All three only read. Times are local to the station. Heights are in feet for US stations and metres for Canadian ones, unless you ask for the other. Canadian predictions reach about ten days ahead.

Not for navigation

Find My Tide is not suitable for navigation.

Every answer the server gives carries that warning and its source’s attribution (the Canadian Hydrographic Service notice in full, for Canadian stations), and asks the assistant to pass them on. An assistant can still misread or restate an answer wrongly, so check anything that matters against official tide tables. Sources, licences & safety has the full notices.

What we record

When an AI assistant connects to our MCP server, we record that a session started and the name and version the assistant gives for itself. For each question it asks, we record which tool it used, whether that worked, and which station it was about. That goes to PostHog, with the approximate country the request came from, under a random ID that lasts only for that session. What the assistant sends to search with — a place name or a position — is used to answer and is not recorded, and your conversation never reaches us.
